Erdener Treppchen Auslese Riesling

Rich and unctuous, the Meulenhof Mosel Erdener Treppchen Riesling Spätlelese Alte Reben 2012 is ripe, juicy apricot, golden Opal apple and paraffin, a twinkling top note of kerosene. Soft and silky on entry, with a medium level of acidity that leans towards bright citrus fruit, candied lemon peel and dried pineapple. I found my self looking for only just a little more acidity and mineral verve, that being said, the finish is reasonably lengthy. Overall, a delightful Spätlelese. 8.0% ABV

Really good after open for a day. Sweet and muted before that.

Dry as a bone, incredibly surprising for an Auslese from this email but oh wait, it's 2001...lay it down for another 5-7.

A beauty. Deep golden color then all that Riesling goodness of an aged Mosel spilling forth in waves. Lively texture and sweet acid balanced palate. Great with dinner over three nights of W/M visit and of course Marie loved it.

Pineapple and petrol.

Sweetness and sugar level very high.

Had this with spicy chicken masala. Sweet, but bright, not dull. Might go with a drier riesling next time.
