Amazing for its level, though still more expensive than most Grand Crus.

Blinded except for producer. We were all pretty set on Chambolle premier cru. It was distinctive Roumier and really in the zone with its beautiful perfume and elegant palate. As always, fantastic complexity and depth for a village wine. ‘07 red Burgundy is so darn good right now and every Roumier experience reiterates he’s one of the very best.

Intense and muscular, nothing subtle about 2017. Very good depth for village and it continues to gain complexity and show some layers as it unfurls. Lots of tension and finesse showing black raspberries, pomegranate, crushed minerals and hints of topsoil. Finishes with very good length and lift. When you talk about village red wines that set themselves apart you think Fourrier’s Gevrey, Mugneret Gibourg’s VR (of course CLB too), and then there is Roumier’s Chambolle. Great now and even better later ❤️

Ripe, concentrated and elegant. Red cherries, cranberries, minerals, exotic spices and hints of tea and mint leaves. The texture is beautiful and velvety and finish is long and lingering. Showing amazing now and even better in a few years. What a terrific village wine. Roumier is straight 🔥.

A year ago today, with the help of Mr. @Andrew Fortgang there was an amazing Roumier dinner at Little Bird. I broke my wrist the next day.

Decided to open up a simple Roumier to celebrate. This 2011 was in a nice place, red fruits, pitched deeper than expected, with freshness and enough energy within the oak. Will get better but drinking great now.
