The 2019 Barbaresco is classy and elegant to the core. Sweet red cherry, blood orange, cinnamon, cedar and sweet pipe tobacco all grace this ethereal, understated Barbaresco. There's a bit of edginess in the tannin that needs time to resolve. Otherwise, this is very nicely done. The 2019 is a bit less expressive today than it was last year. Sweet red cherry, orange peel, cinnamon and star anise give the 2017 a decidedly exotic quality to play of its curvy personality. All the elements come together so effortlessly. First nose is strongly characterised by fresh cherry, when opening up dried flowers come up and finishing with a hint of coffee. Enough tannins left for it to age 5 more years.
