Drank 12/15/18. From 375 ml. Excellent with chocolate almonds.

I was not expecting much from this, as I had forgotten it in my cellar, and felt it was likely past its prime. Very pleasant surprise although I am not familiar with the style and have no basis for comparison.

Nose of Mexican cocoa with dark chocolate, cinnamon, and some toffee notes. Rich red fruits and raisins on the palate. Red fruits, medium, well integrated tannins, and some spice mark the medium finish.

4/22/7/4/3 +50 = 90 pts.

Ridiculously dense wine with cherry reduction, brown sugar, treacle and smoky grape. Reviewing this days later, maybe weeks, but I can still taste it.

Marco Sartori is a true believer of Recioto della Valpolicella. This is a Valpolicella blend without Molinara but with some Croatina. Grapes come from volcanic soils of San Briccio Cru, near Mezzane. Aged in a majority of old barriques, smooth, balanced, rich in texture and complexity. Awesome!

Well hot goddamn. Dark chocolate shavings, cigars, musk, & gorgeous liqueur. Not sure if that's a tasting note or just description of the environs.

Light ruby in color. Red cherry on the nose. Red fruit, tobacco, leather and oaky on the palate. Medium in acidity and a short finish. Good value for the money.

Great Valpolicella. Good structure and predictable, but perhaps more tannic than I like. Would order again with right food, but not a very easy drinking smooth red. Enjoyed at Cucina Urbana.

Medium to full bodied, dry with medium tannins, opened up with more fruit. Perfect with roast duck.
