Wednesday Wine Committee. Great hosting by Gavin. 1 sparkler, 4 whites, 4 reds and 2 dessert wines. All served blind as usual.
This style epitomizes Napa chardonnay. Seemed a touch hot with a clipped finish. More focus on oak and richness instead of balanced acidity to accompany with it. This gained a banana bread and cotton candy note as it opened, with lots of vanilla and baking spices. I called this Napa chardonnay.

15’ Palmaz Amalia Chardonnay. My feeling is they always release this wine sooo early. Tasting much better then It did a little over a year ago. Drink this just below cellar temperature.
The palate is completely coated with a mix of exotic tropical fruits . White flowers, candy-ginger?!?, Just a touch of spiced- honey & nicely balanced acidity. This lingers on the back of the palate for a solid minute. What a pleasant surprise!! Drinking now.

Very unusual. Their wet-toasted barrel method leaves this a pale lemon color, and though it is full malo, the timing and temperature allows for no diacetyl byproduct. Intriguing.

Drinking window is now. This will even taste better in a year.

Beautiful Chard...honeysuckle, melon and bright acidity wrapped together with creamy mouth feel and structure to round out a delicious wine!

Ripe Apple, pear, saline and sea aroma. M/L, m+ acid, m body. Spice, minerality, crisp. Balanced with a long finish. M+ intensity.
