My last Wednesday Wine Committee to attend this year. Quite the lesson in Spanish wines! As always, all wines are tasted blind.

The most difficult of the 4 reds to figure out. I ended up going to Bordeaux with this. First notes were Cab Franc like with black and red fruits as well as a small bit of pepper, but the pepper gave way to plum and herbal notes. Probably needs another 3 years to really show appropriately.

When first open this reserva was extremely bright with cherry pits, little bit of cured pancetta - after an hour of being open, the brightness has now mellowed and has this beautiful roundness to it. On the nose I'm getting newly opened rose pedals, also still getting the cured pancetta along with a earthyness at mid palette and a smokey finish. Nice for the price.

Pushing the pleasurable level of VA to the max (and too much for me).

A very basic wine. No complexity or death. But decent balance given the price. A good value for what it is.

Mellower than anticipated, perhaps because of its age.

Tastes like cherry cola would if cherry cola was hearty rather than sweet.
