Deep Ruby with an elegant bouquet of berry fruits, pepper spice with earthy tones, mostly Tempranillo, aged in American and French oak. On the palate flavors of plum and blackberry, with tobacco, oak, pepper spice, lively acidity. Fine soft tannins, long finish ending with fruit, oak, spice and an earthy character. Nice!

Yum. Gorgeous. Licorice, mineral bite, dark red fruit. Leathery and with fine prickly tannins. Bright but deep and long red fruited palate. Powerful, elegant and pure. Just starting to drink well, this will being exquisite in 20 years with good cellaring.

Dark purple tawny and opaque. Rich dark fruit nose. Notes of black fruit, smoke, some mocha and some dark soil. Nice richness in the mouth. In a really good drinking window.

Still dark and opaque. Rich fruit nose. Notes of black cherry, mocha, mahogany and a hint of espresso. Rich and silky in the mouth. Long finish. A nice contrast to the Montelena Cab. My last bottle unfortunately.

Better of the two old Riojas - initially this didn’t show as well but after an hour very cool wine! Freshness and tannins still there in a very elegant form! 😊

Threw a ringer in and a few liked this as much as any other bottle. Dark reddish tawny. Nice nose with notes of blackberry, wood, plums and brush. Balanced and memorable finish.

Never in its youth have I enjoyed this ever so much -this is now ripening beyond that sweet coconut and spiced plum to a meaty hardwood spice with great depth.
