#cabernetsauvignon #wine from Navarra #Spain. Leaning on structure, this wine is damp yet bright, moderate tannins. Flavors are black olive finishing with green olive. Flavor starts mid palate and sinks deeper. Not a bright lifting Cab. Opened 5/2/17

When I say this wine is inky, I don't mean the color, I mean the first note I get on the nose. Add to that purple flowers (not flowers that are purple, flowers that smell like purple) and a heaping helping of clove on the nose. The first image that popped into my head when I tasted it was chalk, which made sense as Navarra in Spain is mostly chalky soils with a gravel top layer. This wine fights your tongue and roof of your mouth before you gulp it down, the definition of "grippy tannins". Mayne it'd be better with paired dishes, but for me, right now, it's an interesting take on cabernet sauvignon and that's being nice.

Really solid Cab. (Single varietal Cab Sauv from Spain). Lots of spice and soft texture. Abundant fruit, yet beautifully expressed. Hints of cocoa and black licorice. Earthy with mild tannins on the long finish. This one has really benefited from some aging. Another great value wine served by Ron B! Really terrific!
