Mar 29th, 2013Strong petrol flavors. Good but not great Alsace Riesling. This Riesling has a nice acidity, but it has some sickening sweet flavors in the finish. I suspect this wine will be better with 5 years of age in the bottle, but it is not ready to drink now.

100% Riesling
Medium straw color. Clear and young.
Ripe orchard fruit, dry honey, white flower, mineral stones, waxy with some characteristic petrol-like aroma developing.
Structurally robust. Medium full bodied, medium high acidity, almost semi-dry. Round and forward but with style. Lots of ripe autumnal fruits, stone fruits. Aromatically floral with added complexity of distinctive Riesling glycerine notes. Very long lasting finish.
It might not make a lot of sense but while this isn't a typical Alsatian Riesling with its heightened sweetness, it's still very much firmly rooted in the regional interpretation of Riesling grape. 90.
