A wow nose. Olives and wild flowers. Sweet berry fruit. Wow. Lavender. Violets. Purple olives. Incredibly floral. 9.6 nose but will add more complexity and layers. So elegant and aristocratic with terrific tannic grip but they are so fresh and ripe. Wow the inner mouth aromas are something else here. Terrific concentration and depth. Chewy, ripe and lingering. What persistence. Such a classic expression of Cote Rotie. Plessy is reliable and just textbook.

A 9.4 with potential to upgrade with more age! The 2010 at 10 years is still a young developing wine. The fruit is still plentiful with cherry, raspberry, red plum, the tertiary elements are barely starting to integrate and show. The oak was also pretty muted but there. Personally I think this vintage is a little shutdown at the moment but give it 5+ more years and I think it will start showing like the 2005! This wine has a lot of power and potential. I tasted this in a vertical with the 2005 and 2007 all bottles came direct from the Barge Cellars.

More classic in style, the 2007 showed more tertiary aromas of leather, meat and smoke. Some red fruit (dark cherry) with some classic green notes. The palate was soft but balanced with med (-) tannin and soft acidity. Not a strong vintage but tasted in a vertical with the 2005 and 2010 which made it a very educational experience. (This wine came direct from Barge cellars)

What a knockout nose. Just a knockout. Smoked meats, olives, such lift, granite, flowers, gravy, so so aromatic. Mesmerizing. Such depth. Head-spinning. Right out of the gates as well. Best Barge Côte Rotie to drink young. Palate is so meaty, olivey and gorgeous. Blackberry and blueberry fruit and such purity, finesse and freshness. Incredible balance. Velvety and sweet tannins and such incredible texture. Finish is so long. Like a winding path. As this airs it gets juicier, like mega juicy and peppery. Also inner mouth florals up the ying yang.

Had this with wild mushroom fettuccini. Great paring. Earthy. Really approachable.

Smoked meat, ash, licorice, violet, peppercorn, juicy red and black cherries, elevated intensity and length. Elevated acidity, high tannin, elevated alcohol.

What a nose. Blackberry, flowers, blueberry, so so floral, some earth, so so high toned and just gorgeous. Gorgeous. Right out of the bottle. Palate is sweet and meaty with such depth and precision and on point acidity. Wonderful balance and deft purity. So long and so pure. Stunning clarity of fruit and definition. Elegant and velvety almost silky tannins. Such finesse. Sweet sweet tannins and oh man they are so fine. What a showing. So complex and drinking so forking well.
