Cuvée Louis Napa Valley Cabernet Franc

I love Cab Franc but this one isn’t that good to me. Very acidic even after 45 minutes of decanting. Too spicy and tannic for me. Maybe it will take longer in the decanter to open up and please me! Not sure if I’ll buy this one again. If there was anything positive it would be the smell of fruit as I poured.

Black cherry and chocolate covered strawberries on the dark nose. Succulent tannins that danced on the tongue transitioned into sour cherry and milk chocolate undertones. Not heavy on the fruit, but nice body.. Awesome cab franc.

This Friday's Cabernet fix, is a great Cabernet Franc (Cabernet Sauvignon's dad).

Beautiful deep purple core with a lighter purple rim.

Tart and fruity on the nose with sweet plums, cherries, red flowers, raspberries, vanilla, licorice, oak, dark chocolates, dark roasted coffee, figs, earth, pencil lead, coke, eucalyptus, mint and peppercorn.

Full-bodied, smooth and elegant with high acidity and long legs.

Very dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, bell pepper, cherries, oak, vanilla, alcohol, cola, licorice, chocolates, vegetables, tobacco, herbs, spices and black pepper.

Long tangy finish with round tannins and tart raspberries.

This 9 year old Napa Cab, is still drinking nicely, but it lost some of its balance. Elegant, complex, smooth and interesting. Good just by itself, but also good with lamb chops on the grill.

Still has a gorgeous nose but has a lot of alcohol at the back of the throat. I had it a year ago, and it was better than now.

Needs 2 to 3 hours of air time to show tannins. Enjoyed it, but it's on the way out, so if you have one, drink up...

This is a gorgeous Cabernet Franc to start the weekend with...

Dark ruby in color with a wide purplish rim.

Big Napa Cabernet nose of vanilla, wood, cedar, blackberries, figs, cooked plums, light vegetables, sweet spices and black pepper.

Full bodied and bold, yet smooth and elegant with medium acidity and gorgeous legs.

Dry and fruity on the palate with cherries, blackberries, plums, black currants, oak, vanilla, licorice, tobacco, spices, light nutmeg and peppercorn.

Long, long finish with awesome, full, round tannins and spices.

What a gorgeous wine this is. Nicely balanced, elegant and smooth with a gorgeous mouthfeel. One that you want to enjoy it all by itself without any distractions . Probably peaking now and in the next couple of years. This is like candy in a bottle. Definitely My kind of wine.

Needed 3 hours in the decanter, and even after that, it continued to evolve.

Aged in American oak barrels.

14.9% alcohol by volume.

8. Black cherry, blackberry. Green pepper. Slight terroir. Med plus body

Smells like it will be huge and over the top, and it is! So much red fruit.

Christmas morning wine! Love how the finely integrated tannins intertwine with lush candied sour cherries and blackberries. Rather invigorating fruit bomb that extends well...Santa was good to me!!

We loved this wine. Great depth and balance. Bright acid and good tannin finish. Dark cherry and dark chocolate character. Just a delight.

Tasted blind (handed a glass and told to guess). Surprised this was not French. Deep, long finish.

Full body, earthy, plum-y. Great!
