Bricco dell'Oriolo Dolcetto d'Alba

Nice quaff. Grapey. Typical reduction. Held for days, improved.

Tried with a Coravin. Decent, bright, red fruit driven. Savory. Sustains quite nicely. Tannins a little dry. Perfectly good for a low-key glass.

My palette has always had a liking for piedmont terroir. Growing up with homemade Italian wine probably had something to do with it. Dark red fruits. Lighter body, earthy spice and balanced tannins. Nothing wrong with a solid Italian table red.

Ripe but the tannins were raw which worked. And a hint of violets and roses! Real good and I want a bottle just for me.

Tart cherry. Some perfume. Green, rustic, dilute, bitter. Passable value.

Ripe and clean - new world feel

Lots of complexity on the nose but falls a little short on the mid-palate. Still has nice tannins and dark fruits and earth.

Sour cherry on the nose and palate, with some earthiness mixed in--plus a bitter kick on the finish.

Dolcetto from top site just outside the Barolo DOC. No five-cent candy on the nose here. Serious and structured.
