Popped and poured; enjoyed over several hours. Clearly showing the solar nature of the vintage, the 2015 Fèlsina CCR pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core. Medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of stewed cherries and strawberries, well-oiled leather ball glove, red flowers, curaçao, dried green herbs, and sandalwood. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes of the nose. The finish is long, tart and satisfying with ferrous minerals. A lovely pairing with Conchiglie Ripiene. While this is fully mature, it still has a healthy life ahead. Drinking very well now and should through 2030 with ease.

I was expecting more from this reputable producer of Chianti. The bottom line is that this is too young to be drinking now, especially for such a long living wine. The mid palate needs to fill out to catch up with the tannic finish which means the wine finishes with some astringency. Needs to rest in a cool cellar for 5 to 10 years at least.

Probably the most balanced Chianti Classico I have had in 2 years. It started off quite tart with sour cherries, but after an hour of rest... It has a mouthfeel of a Brunello. Pairing with chicken marsala, caprese salad, pesto... Complementing all! Need to get more of this. Super nice!

Stewed black cherry, leather, salumi, mint, cedar and forest, wet clay, pepper. Deliciously fruited with generosity and a closing bite of Sangio tannin and minerality.

Popped and poured. Dark ruby in color with hardly a visual sign of age other than some sediment in the bottle. On the nose, there’s a ton of leather and mothballed wardrobe…like stepping into an old haberdashery. Dark tart cherry fruit, mushrooms and earth. The acid has done a very fine job keeping this wine full of energy the last 25+ years. The tannin now fully integrated. A lovely bottle that is drinking well in the sunset of its life. A fabulous pairing with Cacciucco. Drink now.

Nose has ripe plum, dark chocolate covered cherry, ripe raspberry, wet leather, damp wood smoke with light alcohol/menthol trailing.

Palate has ripe black cherry, ripe plum, blackberry jam, fresh black currant, dried licorice, faint vanilla, dark roast coffee grounds, yet mild tannins persist. Long finish, very satisfying.

Decanted ~8H and more time is appreciated, although it's been improving nicely in our glasses. Paired to my homemade red sauce, campanelle pasta and local hot/sweet pork sausage, great match.

Valentine's Day 2021!

This could be a 94 point wine in a few years, future bottles can be enjoyed 2024-28, in proper storage.

It’s young. It’s approachable. Light in body. Good tannins and acidity. Great with lentil and slow roasted pork soup. Definitely a good wine right now. See what happens over the next 10 years.
