Big tar & rose petal wine with plenty of acid and tannins... plus a level of black pepper and edginess that likely originate from the Croatina and Vespolina added to the 70% Nebbiolo. Alto Piemonte. Better on Day 3 ... must decant. This was a polarizing wine in our small tasting group.

From birba in SF, this is such a delicious find. It has all the classic Nebbiolo red fruit, flowers, and earth. There's still plenty of primary fruit in this bottle, but it's starting to get more complex and show some notes of tar. Structurally this has opened up aromatically, has silky tannins, and bright but integrated acid. Another wine I want to seek out regularly.

This significantly evolved in the last 6 months. I was unimpressed with its sweetness and forward vanillin on last opening. Those have subsided to show gorgeous soft tannins and earthy, leather, tart blackberry, and licorice notes.

Delicious, although a bit of a palate shock after a day of tasting Sonoma wines. Brisk and delineated, will drink well for another handful of years or more .

Not super pleasurable, but interesting. Piercingly mineral, low pH/high acid. Some bloodiness. Kind of like Nebbiolo x Syrah from a cool place. Needs a lot of time

New vintage of Sella is open and beautiful. More so than the 2008 at this time.

Versions of Nebbiolo that don't get enough air time. 2008 is a beautiful vintage even if there isn't a lot of it.

Boom! Nebbiolo, but approachable now and could age for a while. Holds up with roast -- great food wine.
