Some days, you want something stronger than wine, and today has been well.......one of those days.

Old No.7 brand, since 1866, a sour mash whiskey favorite. Jack & Coke works for me.

40% abv. 80 proof

Young whiskey 🥃, lower proof than it was traditionally or even recently bottled at. When served neat it's all at once hot, but not terribly flavorful. Fine with a mixer or watered down. Does not command the price, more comparable (quality wise) to a blended Canadian than to even cheap bourbons. The Budweiser of whiskies? Strong branding and strong price. Not bad, just not the right price.

Not undrinkable, really. Just unadventurous, oversweet, and overwhelmed by a strange flavor that almost reminds one of rotten wood. Thin, accessible, and good for mixing.

A sweet, rich and nutty bouquet infused with Carmel and vanilla. Similar on the tongue. Pretty delicious, but a little too sweet. Still, if it's all you have under your desk at the end of a day like the one I had .....
