Pale lemon in colour. Barb tasted before I did and could smell the Sauvignon Blanc immediately - musky, grapefruit (gooseberry and a trace of passion fruit as it warmed up). Medium + intensity on the palate - fully integrated oak and diminished acidity - citrus and grapefruit. Overall - delicate and restrained. An excellent wine but paying a lot for the label.

Beautiful color. Perfect fill. Still showing some young Bdx blanc aromas of guava, pineapple and beeswax. Lots of acidity and a long finish

A simply glorious aged Bordeaux Blanc, shared for my big four zero, the 2004 Pavillion Blanc by Chateau Margaux is silky, opulently textured and has insanely good poise and length. Right out of the gate you are impressed with the range of aromatics from lychee and starfruit to damp earth, wild mushroom and brandy soaked pear. Once on the attack, you are surprised by the freshness imparted in this wine that now stands at sixteen years of age. The soft mouthfeel gives this an err of elegance as the wine effortlessly glides across the mid palate with a bright beam of salinity. The captivating, exceedingly long finish produces the final crescendo. One thing is clear — this beautiful Bordeaux Blanc still has a long life ahead of it. Drink 2020-2035- 97

The 2005 Pavillon Blanc is simply stunning and is offering an incredible amount of appeal at this stage. Showing wonderful energy and vibrancy, this begins with striking aromas of tropical fruits, ripe pear, lime zest, honeysuckle and crushed stones that all take shape beautifully. This displays remarkable balanced and precision, as it continues to impress all the way through the laser focused finish. This is an utterly brilliant Sauvignon that is absolutely delightful today and readers who are lucky enough to have this in their cellar are in for a serious treat.

Lemon in colour. Appley funky (beginning of sherry) aromas. Some creaminess on the palate amongst the delicate lemon flavours and oxidative notes creeping in at 15 years of age. Certainly at the end of its drinking window From a 30 acre vineyard in Margaux planted exclusively with Sauvignon Blanc. It spends a further 7 to 8 months in barrels. Paul Pontallier felt this was the best vintage of this Cuvée to that point. In summary I wish I had consumed this wine a few years ago when it would have been a little fresher.

Pics or it didn’t happen. A bit oxidized but still a beautiful example of the wine. I truly believe this is one of the best values in Bordeaux due to scarcity and the amazing quality. Next one will be a more recent vintage.
