A blend of 50% Sangiovese, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot. Deep Ruby with red berry fruit aromas and sweet earthy spice. On the palate ripe cherry and strawberry with a touch of cinnamon spice, firm tannins, nicely balanced. Medium+ finish with toasty oak notes on the ending. Nice value. Consistent quality.

Querciabella's 2016 Mongrana is gracious and very pretty, with lovely floral and red berry character. This Sangiovese-based Maremma red blend has so much to offer. I would prefer to drink it young, while the fruit remains vibrant. Best of all the 2016 is a superb value for an estate wine. $22.00 (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, November 2019)

Have had this a few times, always a winner. Plum, earth, licorice, dried herbs, orange rind, soft tannins and nice acid. Great with homemade spaghetti and meatballs day two 👍🏻

Founded in 1974 by Giuseppe Castiglioni, and now managed and owned by Sebastiano Cossia Castiglionii. Blend of sangiovese, merlot and cabernet, from organic grapes, lovely nose of fruit, floral and spice. On the palate cherry and plum flavors with earthy herb notes, touch of spicy cacao. Fine tannins, good balance, medium finish ending with earthy character. Nice value.

Last night I opened the 2019 Mongrana Maremma Rosso Toscana. Tuscany, Italy. This wine is a Super Tuscan blend of 50% Sangiovese, 25% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon.

On the nose there is cherry, red plum, blackberry, tomato, chocolate, leather, nlack pepper and wet gravel.

On the palate I am detecting cherry, raspberry, plum, red currant, spice, herbal notes and wet gravel.

This is a full bodied wine with a smooth well rounded mouthfeel medium + acidity and medium + grippy chewy tannins that leaves you with a long red & black fruit earthy finish. Please have a wonderful week ahead and stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Elevage in cement tanks has really seen the freshness of this wine take centre stage with aromas of tart red fruits, some dried cranberry, blackcurrant pastille, some leafiness with slight orange zest and Campari like bitters coming through too. Delicious on it own but with that perfect pitched acidity and leathery tannin profile go at this with wild boar Ragu for extra pleasure 🍝

At less than $20, this hit all of the right ST notes and held up just fine into the next evening.

Had the 2011 vintage. Supertuscan = super tasty! A wonderful blend of Sangiovese, Cab Sauv & Merlot. Berries and dark chocolate flavours are prominent. Bold with lots of layers of flavour, medium bodied but still an easy drink :)

A blend of 50% Sangiovese, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot. Deep red with red berry fruit aromas and sweet spice. On the palate ripe cherry and strawberry with a touch of cinnamon spice, firm tannins, nicely balanced. Medium finish lingering with a little light toasty oak on the ending. Nice value.
