Aromas of menthol, dried raspberry and cherry, earthy notes with red liquorice and lavender chiming in. Opulent in its youth with ripe fruit and 80% French Oak Barriques (for 22 months) when young and now at 14 years everything comes together in balance. Finishes with very fine savoury dry tannins - powdery. Great time to drink this. Loved it. One of the 1001 wines.

Aromatic nose of dusty dried cherries with rose petal. Medium weight. Balanced and Savoury. Cool in every sense of the word. A slight tarriness as you would expect. Finishes with fine powdery dry tannins. Excellent with Roast Pork.

1998. This is an Italian wine for a candlelit dinner. Soft, earthy, full, compelling.

Way too rich, but quite indicative of the vintage, it's definitely a modern style, not a classic blind, but has a character that's applicable with some richer foods.
