2012 Cave Caloz Humagne Rouge "La Mourziere" from the Coteaux de Sierre appellation high up in the Alps!

Geeky and cool

First wine ever from Switzerland. First pour was rustic. After an hour the wine revealed an earthy, herbal, wild berry, purple flower character. Not a great wine, but one of the most interesting I've had lately. Cornalin grape.

Swiss Valais AOC, Cave Caloz. Native alpine red, Humagne Rouge-- angular & earthy, exuberant dark fruit grown on stone-walled terrasses

Interesting wine, still a baby--fleshed out after a day or two open--but tastes like a wine grown on the extreme edge of red wine territory, very fresh, light but with a tight hard edge, like cold sheet metal, refreshing, more about earth than fruit.
