Wine was too cold to begin with but after a while there were White Florals along with River gravel, ripe citrus and honeysuckle. More mineral and less stone fruit influenced than Australian Chardonnay. Also 2014 was a great vintage for White Burgundy. Excellent and delicious.

Initial impressions of green apple, citrus, wet stone and mineral. Same on the palate. Still quite restrained from this excellent white burgundy vintage of 8 years ago. Quite lean for a Premier Cru Meursault and leaner than most good Australian Chardonnays The oak is clearly dialled back to match the power of the fruit in this cooler vintage. A touch of salinity at the finish.

Good, lean mainly.
Very almondy, nearly like a north eastern Italian white

Monthly WTF wine group tasting. This month’s theme was chardonnay from any region or vintage. Nice eclectic bunch! All wines tasted blind.

I really enjoyed this. Next to the Chablis it was poured next to, this was much more soft. It also continually evolved in the glass. More reductive/matchstick notes here than the Chablis, as well as a warm profile. It revealed some baking spice notes from the oak, lemon meringue, ripe stone fruits and the profile was almost creamy (in a good way). This would be a nice bottle to bridge people from high end Cali chard to burgundy.

Aromas of crisp stone fruits with citrus notes, complex. On the palate apple and citrus flavors, lively with honey oak and spice. Well balanced, lingering finish ending with mineral tones. Nice!

Aromas of white flower, grapefruit and slightly butter. Fresh and mineral with lemon peel flavours. Long aftertaste. Gastronomic wine

Very fine and elegant, this was served next to a powerhouse Corton-charlamagne so it lost some verve in comparison. I found it lacked some focus and tension, but that was likely from youth and some distraction as previously mentioned. However, it did offer an elegant and purely vivid take on Chardonnay I found very appealing, especially with the course of tile fish on my plate at that moment!
