Third of the blind red wines. Theme was Cabernet Sauvignon or Bordeaux Blend from Oakville, Stags Leap District or generic Napa Valley with professional reviews of 95+. This one was a ringer in the mix.

Deep purplish red in appearance. A bit mute on the nose with some chalky and dark fruit notes. Medium tannins (6/10) and full bodied. Lots of black cherries, gravel and a touch meaty on the palate. Overall still baby with a super long and powerful finish. Wouldn't touch one of these for a few years. Drink from 2020 till 2030+. (91+)

Nice little surprise to fine in a box that had not been unpacked yet. Could have aged 10 more years!

Engraving party at The Wine Cabinet in Reston. Supposedly one of the first stores to get this wine into Northern Virginia. Thick, dark, opaque ruby red with purple hues. So thick it covered the glass. Nose was lovely and intriguing. Started of with a ton of black pepper, earthiness, dark chocolate and smoke. String tannins 8/10 with a moderate body. Needs at least 2 years before trying again. Very dry and austere finish. Ended with some cherry notes. Great wine bought two to go, getting both engraved.

Still young - maybe too young - but bold and decadent nonetheless.

Nothing petite about this. Lots of alcohol on the nose. Plum and dried cherry.. Big and full.
