Bottle number four tonight, following two brett bombs and a VA. Soft and easy, with a light nose and sleek mouthfeel. Perfect quaffer with tonight's leftovers. Solid but no fireworks.

Once again a basic Bordeaux has me asking myself why I don't drink more of this stuff. $25 at Ferry Plaza Wine Merchants. 14.0 abv but you might not know it. Refreshing, well made, and versatile. Could be a go to.

Dark, burly and still very & surprisingly youthful. Slowly starts opening only after 2h in decanter & glass with black currant compote, green bell peppers, coffee and pencil shavings. There’s an uplifting whiff of menthol, too.
On the palate this comes across as very young, with big & chewy tannins. But what great quality these tannins have - fine as sawdust, juicy, polished. Add to this fresh acidity and good focus & precision plus nice length.
No fireworks but this is a v. nice classic Bordeaux.
Retasted after 4 years, will wait with the other bottles at least another 4.
