Essence is an interesting idea from the Vins et Vignobles Dourthe company in Bordeaux, which is widely known in the UK and Europe, but they are recently placing their focus on the U.S. market. It is a blend from the best plots of some of their well-known chateaux. Only 500 cases made. This 2008 was simply dense, dark, and lovely. Espresso, licorice, intense graceful fruit & long finish.

Very young -- and already ten years old. Think it will be great in another 5-10 years. Nice wine but at over $200 a bottle, not a value but will last forever.
