100% Merlot imported from the crew over @winebid. From the initial pop this had the essence of a New World wine as it was round and fruit forward. This is Merlot done right! ✔️

Still quite youthful and tannic. Fairly modern and extracted. Good, but not terribly interesting. Perhaps better in 5 years.

Deep Ruby. Colour, nose and palate led me to believe it was new world tasted blind. Ripe fruit 100% Merlot plummy notes with hints of tobacco. I would prefer the French to stick to their knitting and not mimic the New World.

Used the Durand, didn’t need it. I think this cork is made of Oak, the densest cork I’ve experienced.
K&L $15.00 bottle, too bad they only had 1. You would think this bottle is less than 5 years old, never thought I’d say that about a $15.00 Merlot, I need to French it up more often
The 14-hectare vineyard of Chateau Marsau is planted to 100% Merlot. The terroir is clay, with limestone and sandy soils. The vineyard is well situated in the appellation on a slope that is close to the peak of the plateau in the Cotes de Francs appellation with an elevation of close to 100 meters.
The vineyard is located just a bit northeast of the Francs village. The vines are on average 35 years of age. The vineyard is planted to a density ranging from 5,000-6,5000 vines per hectare. In 2020, Chateau Marsau was certified as being 100% organic in their farming.
To produce the wine, vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks. The wines are aged in an average of 30% new, French oak barrels for 12 months before bottling. In most vintages, the annual production is close to 4,500 cases. There is a second wine, Prelude de Marsau.
