Gioia del Colle DOC 2009, 16,5%. Made with Primitivo grapes, genetically very similar to Zinfandel. Unfortunately the bottle I tasted was a bit spoiled, apart from a strong smell of geranium leaves there were no other interesting aromas. I just had a sip, and did not enjoy it, but I would like to try another bottle.

A nice clean Zinfandel, but probably the one grape that we have actually treated better in the new world than the old. This bottle was the most celebrated organic primitivo that I could find publicly available in Puglia.
Smells of sun dried cherries, some meaty scents, black pepper and violets.
Tasty but a bit thin (but nearly 15%!)
Fresh, medium fruity acid, medium-light tannins- probably a better balance than the strong tannin v. Acid that we find here- much less tannic but also length than we see in it's Sonoma County, American counterpart.
14.5% ABV
