It will always be hit or miss with bottles like this. Showing signs of what once was, it got tired very quickly . Lots of old leaves and drying fruit. The acidity gave it some backbone but could not elevate it to its past glory.

A nice nose of dark, slightly drying, plummy fruit with hints of menthol, dried orange peel. On the palate brooding dark fruit. Some sour cherry and herbs. A slightly truncated dried wood finish.

Smoke and dried cherry, bright acidity still. Very translucent with dried orange notes, meatiness. Very fragrant and clear with a slightly madirized and elegant finish

Incredible bottle at 65 years. So clear and distinct. Great purity with roses and lovely savory, slightly bitter, red fruit. Really classy and composed. Beautiful

Wow. Decanted off sediment 3 hours before serving and even the muddy remains tasted great. Dream tar and roses combo, with soy sauce overtones and silky tannins. This must have been impossibly rough in its youth. What a showing!! Eddy w/ C&C

Magnificent at 55 years. Fantastic fruit and acid balance- so perfectly balanced, I'll bet it's got another 20 years . Impressive and 100 pts in my book

Textbook example on how long an old-school Barolo needs to age. This can go another 10-20 years, I wager. Decanted for over four hours and still had fresh, deep, minty Nebbiolo intensity.
