Fine and delineated tannic structure with angles and edges instead of curves and roundness. The core of juicy wild berry/cherry fruit and rusticity give this a playful personality. VA and oxidation in check with this bottle, which is nice given some variation experienced in the past. Succulent alpine berries, licorice whip, herbs similar to a liquor or remedy of some sort, tar, porcini.

I love alpine nebbiolo. A little softer and a touch more floral than its Barolo/Barbaresco kin, and totally ready to go at 9 years old. Silky smooth and generous at the table with dinner.

Friday night Chez Epstein. One of my favorites. Chiavennasca = Nebbiolo at its softest and most accessible. I heart me some Valtellina.

Lovely nose but a bit flat on the palate. Still a very drinkable wine. Would serve it a bit chilled.
