A Benjamin Button wine. When I opened it last night, it initially was quite disappointing. Old, browning color, nose showing little fruit and mostly dried underbrush. But it began to perk up with an hour or so of air, so I saved the rest for tonight. And it’s pretty nice tonight! Strangely, the color has gotten more youthful looking. The nose shows dark macerated cherry with a significant iron note to the earthiness. A lifted menthol/ camphor thing. In the mouth, it’s got a nice freshness, and hits more like a Chianti Classico Riserva from Castelnuovo Berardenga than a typical Brunello. Dark cherry and lots of savory minerality. A little, nice bitter note in the close. Not super deep or lengthy, but a tasty wine nonetheless. Be sure to decant and give this wine lots of air.

Nose has deep cherry fruit. Hint of tin. Some minerality. A rubber thing. Weird. Palate is dense, juicy and concentrated. Big, significant tannins. Clean. Tannins kind of chonky. OK. Not great.

Had this at a restaurant. Enticing Ruby with full berry aromas and slight mineral spice notes. On the palate wild berry fruits with a central focus of fruit, spice integrated with fine grain tannins. Full body, lingering, ending with cacao, espresso and mineral tang. Good value, decant unless you can wait a few years.

Amazingly delicious! Is one of my all time favorites. Beautiful expression of Sangiovese! Perfect with steak, bolognese, roasts, etc... Very fine on its own!

Grab this if you can find it. Absolutely amazing wine in this vintage for an even more axing price. This is the real deal.

Really enjoyed this wine with a lot of black fruits and some leather. I opened tasted and decided not to decant but did serve with a aerator. The finish started off long with sweet fruits but seemed to diminish a lot by the end of the meal so think drink them up.
