Good full red. Inviting aromas of ripe plum, red cherry nectar, leather and underbrush. Plump but graceful, with flavors of red fruit, leather and potpourri that are supported by polished tannins tapering nicely on the long, saline finish. In keeping with the warm year, this showy wine is round and creamy but slightly less well delineated than some past vintages of Fossacolle. (Ian D'Agata, Vinous, April 2020)

Cherry and mocha with a big slab of vanilla. Nicely balanced and should do quite well with the tomato based pasta sauce that's on tonight's menu.

Best lunch I’ve had with a 20-something in years…..!
Just plucked this from storage to share with an old friend who loves great Italian wines. Surprisingly smooth and mild for a Brunello di Montalcino; not the dark, smoky, tobacco I would have expected…
