Deep dense purple red, fair clarity. Cassis, cherry notes in nose, hint of mint or eucalyptus and smoke. Astringency on top of palate and front of tongue, slightly tart start, seed bitterness finish. Muted flavors, red fruit and black pepper, a hint of olive and veg, might develop more with decanting

This family makes just two wines, a blanc and a rouge and a blanc. They are known for holding back wines, this is current release. Funky earthy leather dried back berries meat could smell this for hours. kept it open for days, fun evolution. Very tight at opening. eat at day 3 but i didn’t decant. medium body (14.5 doesn’t show) firm tannins, medium + acid.

Bright fruit colored by some vanilla French oak, but with enough savoriness to get away with it. Could use a little more structure, but I appreciate that it isn't pushing the ripeness envelope.
