Brunello di Montalcino Riserva

Balanced fruit forward wine. Nice herby notes on the nose

Past its prime. Not much there now. Light, few aromatics, acidity almost gone. Should have been drunk 5 years ago. Not happy with Brunellos riservas. This is the second one that disappoints ☹️

Olive and fig smell, rich dark purple color, slight burnt color, very clean, slight sweet sage, oregano and thyme (subtle), loads of tannin

Still have a few more years to go.

Big red. Lots of fruit and not too dry

Dark red fruit and rosemary on the nose. Cherry and bilberry too. Tannins have integrated well but acidity hasn't faded at all. Still lively and fresh. Finish is full of purple plums!

Fading

Strange showing for this BdM, that nobody picked out as such blind. Initially closed and reticent, eventually opened to dry, seamless red fruit. Bordeaux-esque. May've been overwhelmed by much bigger wines in the flight, but suspect this baby needs more time.

This was full, open and complex, showing plenty of dark fruits but also sangio character.
