The Prisoner Napa Valley Zinfandel Blend

Not at all my thing, but I get why it’s some people’s thing. Baked cherry pie. Concentrated and giving. 15.5% abv.

In Mag. Their new corporate owners made it pleasant enough (I like to call it “plush”) and if you are in to that you will be happy. But the lack of structure doesn’t work for me.

Blend of Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Syrah, & Charbono. Deep Ruby with aromas of berry fruits and sweet spice. On the palate flavors of black cherry and plum with oak, cacao and vanilla. Fine soft tannins, long finish ending with fruit, herb spice and tobacco notes Nice!

A good wine that used to be a GREAT wine. Zin blend that has notes of dark bramble fruit, light eucalyptus, and subtle earth.

Inspired by “mixed blacks” first made by Italian immigrants originally settling in Napa, blend of Zinfandel, Cab Sauv, Petite Sirah, Syrah & Charbono. Deep Ruby aromas of berries and complex spice. Aged 30% on new oak, combo of French/American barrels. Palate shows big flavors of cherry, blueberry & raspberry, bold spice lively acidity, vanilla & cedar notes, good balance. Fine tannins, long finish. Nice, drinking well, still can cellar. Note, ‘17, bigger & bolder than ‘16.

Tried six 2002 reds, all with Cabernet in the blend. Ha everyone loved this. You can still buy it for $100 apparently!

Good to taste the 18 vintage. Powerful blend as always, layers of fruit and dark chocolate. Smooth finish.

Good blend just like previous vintages. Lower rating because I think the wine hasn’t integrated enough yet and needs at least two more years of rest.

Classic Orin Swift drinkability. Super lush with deep brooding fruit. The Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah really shine through. Medium bodied with nice velvety tannins. Might be may favorite OS so far next to Papillon and Veladora. Pairs well with the American Horror Story I'm watching.
