I had it at Covell. I ended up accidentally buying the same at thanksgiving in St. Louis. And now I’m back at Covell drinking it because it stands well in many ways: it has a refreshing nature—some sort of herbal underbelly to it berry cassis fun. So far my top cahors pick but there’s more to be tried...

"The Black Wine of Cahors" doesn't disappoint. Opaque purple color, with black fruits dominating the nose, berry, plum and currant. The wine has good weight to it, supporting the earthen notes of turned earth and wet leaves. The finish leaves a little to be desired but otherwise this is a decently powerful malbec.

Cuvee l'Authentique, full bodied wine with power but also elegance, very nice drinking now

Interesting to compare to Argentine Malbec; this had the same berry notes but also a touch of green / herbal which I haven't noticed in the New World style.

Wild nose. A tight but revealing palette. Still approachable with nice red fruit on the finish. Needs time tho....,

It definitely has spicy ending notes. Its smooth, wet and aromatic easy drinking wine. It reminds me of sunny winters, where I used to sit on the terrace and enjoy the afternoon sun while having groundnuts.

Surprisingly good. Gifted by Eunice. Learnt about French malbec from Cahors region. Malbec actually originated from France. Cp to Argentinian malbec - less fruit forward, more savory, tart, stronger tannins, better structure. While often used in bordeaux blends, malbec from Cahors stands on its own

Absolutely delicious and a perfect match with juicy BBQd hamburgers. (NOTE: this 100% Côt should not be confused with the chateau’s Tradition bottling which is 85% Côt and 15% Merlot.)
