In 1934, Marquis de Jouennes, father-in-law of Bertrand Devillard, produced his first bottle of red Mercurey. Selling some wine is sold, limited, under the name Le Renard, selected from Burgundy estates by the Devillard family. Ruby with a nose of ripe red fruits. On the palate cherry and raspberry flavors, with good balance and some spice. Integrated tannins carry to medium finish ending with some mineral tones. Ok value. Tasting Sample.

There are just so many better balanced pinots, but this had some spices, tart cranberry and heavy tannins

Upon opening, a strange smell like charcuterie. The next day it was more relaxed.

It's hard to believe this is from Burgundy--I would have guessed this was a Cabernet Sauvignon with its refined nose, rich body, and chocolatey color. Always more to learn!
