Rustic and soulful, showing nicely, mature bottle character and whole cluster create a very complex and savory profile. Generous and richly layered red/blk fruit, pine resin, garrigue, sous bois and animal.

Caught rhis, probably still a little too young for what I was hoping for, easily can go up to 93

Bright ruby-red. Expansive red fruit preserves, lavender and succulent herb scents show excellent clarity and pick up a suggestion of incense with air. Gently chewy and energetic in the mouth, offering alluringly sweet cherry, blackberry and spicecake flavors that flesh out steadily through the back half. Shows impressive depth as well as energy, finishing extremely long and spicy, with well-knit tannins adding a subtle final grip. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, January 2023)

Another wine from the Cairns BYO Indian Restaurant. A Grenache dominant Gigondas made by the 3 Faraud sisters. I split 6 bottles of this with the chap who brought this to the dinner. I had consumed mine. This was very tasty a few years ago. This example was a little flat and lacked freshness. Earthy and savoury. One of the 1001 wines.

New Years with the main courses: beef Wellington, roasted broccoli with garlic sauce, roasted carrots with thyme. 2016 decanted 4+ hours & think that really helped make a sleeker yet soulful, deeply red fruited & garrique. A solid good. Apparently the only wine this producer makes. That’s cool.

Last bottle of a good Gigondas made by the 3 sisters of Domaine du Cayron. Aromas of dusty sour cherry with some fudge notes. Disagree with my own notes of 100 weeks ago of “Drink Up”. Medium weight - all Tannins resolved and all in balance.

I was surprised to see this at the Vino Volo in STL; lucky us. Dark brambles, figs and black pepper with a whiff of barnyard funk. Drank half and took the rest with us to DCA. The next evening it was still drinking really well. Delicious stuff.

Very dark almost black core with a Crimson rim. Solid aromas of ripe black and blue fruit- almost a little porty - touch of oxidation? Notes of Liqueur Cherry and fine grainy Tar. Enjoyable but better a couple of years ago. Drink up remaining bottles.

What you would expect from a S. Rhone.

Crystalline character to the red fruit, and while this is a large wine there is very little sense of heaviness. No heat on the finish (this makes me giddy). Dusty fine Grenache tannins. Something feral and wild, sweet skunky earthiness (the garrigue manifests as a rosemary, tarragon, sweet fennel odor that is perfectly beguiling). What a regal Southern rhone wine; what a vintage! It will be so hard not to drink these and allow then to blossom!
