Incredibly youthful at 14 years. Dark and deep color with abundant fresh strawberry, fresh green tobacco and coffee on the nose. The palate is fresh, young, peppery and brambly. I’m stunned at how fresh and vibrant this is. So alive and wild. Beautiful really and for $25 it’s kind of silly. I can’t picture a single domestic Syrah that would be as good as this Vivrais at this age.

The deliciousness and freshness factors are extremely high with this one. Juicy, slightly bitter cherry and wild dark berry fruits burst in on the entry with licorice, tobacco and mineral flavors. Immense concentration, spice character and very ripe tannins. Lavender aromas lend a sense of finesse and lift. Seems to become leaner and more elegant with aeration. Serious Rhône wine with a nice long life ahead of it. Slight volatility on this particular bottle is my only reservation, but I’ll be trying another sample soon.

A touch of animalé, big syrah flavors, quite fresh. Nice!

50% Grenache & 50% Syrah - Another great appellation - organic farming on 15ha - limited production to about 65000 - a great bargain this wine - powerful nose, spicy character, very cherry notes on nose, fleshy tannins, nice length - this wine will surprise you! 😋

Lovely. Can’t believe it’s a decade-and-a-half old.

Domaine Gallety 2011, Côtes du Vivarais. A mere 14% abv.
Was served lightly cooled at the camping site restaurant in Ruoms.
Had seen the wine in a wine shop in town where it was featured.
Chocolate, plums, hint of cow shed but in a nice way. Touch of fresh figs. Some spicy, mainly cinnamon.Med low tannins, juicy acidity, lightest RS. Plum skin and coriander root palate. With coriander root strong plus fresh peanuts on the aftertaste. Tannins getting stronger with warmth.. Preferred it slightly cooler...
