Cassis and mint. Medium weight. Soft resolved tannins. Refined polished and elegant. As in previous notes this is the most Bordeaux (left bank) of Australian Cabernets. Sam Middleton, the owner and winemaker says he likes to drink Quintets between 10 and 15 years of age. I honestly don’t see the point in further cellaring. The following day a touch of astringency at the finish. My last 2006.

One of Australia’s classiest Cabernets. Not as minty as Coonawarra or as herbal as Margaret River. Commemorates the passing of founder, Dr John Middleton in 2006 as on the label.

Extremely European, might even "dare" Bordeaux like style
Probably the most consistent of all the bordolese blend in all of Australia
Absolutely spotless and in a good spot to be cellared for 5 more years

Wow. There's so much depth here. Absolutely gorgeous. At 10 years this is just giving insight into the beauty this will become. Seductive, true to form.

I have always thought that Mount Mary is the most Bordeaux-like of Australian Cabernets. I think I will drink my remaining 2 bottles in the next 2 to 3 years.

1 person found it helpfulMar 22nd, 2020Still Australia’s most Bordeaux like blend. Ultra fine grained Tannins. Still in its shell. Nose of violets and cassis. Palate staining intensity. Similar weight and style to Cullen but I prefer this. Minimal Oak influence of only 30% new oak.
