Ampelos Vineyard Syrah

Med body, spice, pepper, menthol, raspberry, soft tannins and approachable alcohol. Good stuff.

Pretty big, but carries enough acidity to pull it off. I always find an interesting saline note from this vineyard, even if it's still pretty buried here under all the young, ripe blue fruit.

Dry, crumbly cork but still sealed ok & aerated the particles to get a nice glass (hate to have too much cork in my teeth…). The Ampelos is my fave Jaffurs Syrah.

Dry cork & a little lean. Tried to aerate, but still not as chewy as previous 07’s. Still didn’t suck 😃

Probably the most “average” Syrah I’ve had from Jaffurs. Not sure if it’s the vintage or vineyard...

Cool streak of salinity running through the fruit

Dark and concentrated with a cold weather lift keeping it interesting. No minerality or evident earthiness. Feel like the varietal and the weather are showing but the ground is missing. Drinks well over many days.

Peppery blue fruits with fiesty tannins.
