Surprising and amazing. The Shypoke Charbono showed charred cherry, bramble, smoke, caramel... etc. Great balance of fruit and tannin. At 13 years old it opened youthful and never faded but did start to turn port like after 8 hours. A real lost gem. Apparently this is a grape in fear of going extinct in California. Don’t let it happen! Seek these out!

Tasted at the June Bacchus Group wine social. Perfectly balanced with just the right amount of age on the color and on the nose and palate. A great find!

Dark purple to red. A great selection to enhance your meal. Fruit and mellow mushroom flavors.

This 1997 Charbono has held up really nicely! Bright color for this vintage. Rustic nose and dusty plate.

Deep garnet hue showing very well. Bouquet springs forward with bing cherries and elegant structure. Red fruits wrapped in delicate but prominent earthy and smoky hints. And it keeps going! The finish is long with anise notes coming to life then ending in a classic old world balance. This one might be peaking for many years. Excellent framed acidity.

Excellent wine. Made with love and care. Harmonious blend of fruit, tannin and acid. Would be wonderful with a steak.

Dark fruit, rich, bold yet feminine. Excellent when paired with beef. Confident to be enjoyed on its own.
