This was the vintage (2001) that brought us to whalebone back in 2003. It is showing its age after 13 years. It is mellowed on tannins and yet still a little lively despite the maturity, but aren't all teenagers? It is still very fresh and well worth the wait to enjoy. I wish the more recent vintages were holding up as well.

2008 - nice dark fruits on the tongue, leathery finish with tannic presence but getting nicely integrated.
