Lots of fun bottles were popped at Al’s hosting this past weekend for his birthday celebration. All were served blind. 1 sparkler, 2 whites, 6 reds and 1 dessert wine.

This was en mag. WOW. Slightly cloudy in the glass. My first guess when looking at it was Marcassin, but it wasn’t waxy enough on the palate. Smelled of rich lemon cream, powdered lemon bars and juicy fruit (that should always be my key to guessing PM). A powerhouse on the palate with juicy tropical fruits, marshmallow, and sweet marzipan. Gorgeous stuff. I called this 2012 Aubert Ritchie.

Today was an absolutely fantastic Friday hosting at the City Club by @Dan Fitzgerald. 1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds, 1 dessert wine. Great job Dan!

My notes against the first white were that this was more lifted and slightly lighter in body. In fact, I called this 2012 Aubert (one of their Sonoma Coast Vineyards) as I picked up lemon cream on the nose and palate. Sea salt, marzipan, honeycomb and lemon pound cake dominate the senses. Touch of heat on the finish. This is drinking marvelously right now.

This, and the second white, were very similar. Main difference here was there was more power and texture. This showed more toasted oak, Mexican vanilla, lanolin and slightly more heat on the finish. Drinking really well, but no rush. I called this 2014 Sonoma chardonnay.

Wow. A 99 chard. This was spectacular. Golden yellow, still held some acid, but big tropical fruit character. Great experience.

Best white wine of the night. This has depth, texture, peaches, melons. Very smooth, yet light on its feet. Beautiful acidity and structure. Finishes with almonds and marzipan. For the age, very impressed at this showing.

Now we are talking! This was our first night of the evening tonight. I've been dying to try this from my cellar. Peter Michael only made 50 bottles of this and I was lucky enough to obtain one at release. It was, by far, one of the absolute best Chardonnays that I have ever had in my life......Ever! Absolutely Amazing.
Opulent., rich., buttery, creme Brulé, vanilla, pear, almond honey. Each was distinctive and yet perfectly integrated. With a finish that made you wait minutes between sips. Absolutely our WOTN this evening. Simply Perfect. All that I can say at this point is........., thank you sir may I have another!!!!!
