Time for #MerlotThursday. This is a nice Right Bank Bordeaux.

Showing red and black fruits with earth, chocolates, wood, earth, bell pepper, spices, vegetables, cedar, leather, wet leaves, herbs and peppercorn.

Full bodied and bold with medium acidity and nice legs.

Dry on the palate and earthy with nice complexity. A good food wine.

Needs 2 hours to open up properly and show some tannins.

Still young and needs 5 to 10 years of bottle time. Not from a great vintage, and it is showing.

Had it blind and called it correctly, including the vintage. Love it when that happens 😉

A blend of 68% Merlot and 32% Cabernet Franc.

13% alcohol by volume.

89 points.

$25.

Dark purple with red and black fruit aromas and spice. Palate displays sour cherry, harsh heavy tannins with earthy tones. Finish is medium. No long term aging potential, getting past it's prime. Drink Now.

Old and I got a great deal on this but it is eminently drinkable. I would highly recommend at this age statement to drink now, especially if you find it in a store with a reasonable price. You definitely taste a bit of the age and the Cabernet frank notes in it, with a bit of the herbal notes combined with an aged slightly candied red fruit note. It feels like a right bank Bordeaux definitely. This is a real deal for an old Bordeaux. If you are looking for an older wine at a good price I would highly recommend going with this. Maybe you might get a bad bottle but it is still worth it.

Whoa Nellie!!! A 💎 in the rough. This wine had an enchanting musk. 🍄 and 🍁 flavors were backed by higher than expected acid. The acid kept the wine refreshing and balanced the oak and tannin.

One of the nice thing about French wines is that it is not sweet like the California Cab.
Your typical French Bordeaux, tannic, definitely earthy. Not deep red.

Solid, regular drinking Bordeaux. Goes with meats really well.

Opening up to a beautiful wine. Has all the flavors I like from a right bank blend . Menthol and slight pepper with a long and smooth finish.
