Soft plum and violets. Plush and open. Lovely texture. Lacks a little definition.

It’s been almost a year since my last post. I thought this wine is worthy enough of the comeback! Not much to say other than top few wines of my life. 🤷🏻‍♂️

No. 2 in the Vosne Romanee Grand Cru bracket. Tasted blind. My brief note (sensory overload has set in again!): A perfumed woody smokiness - sweet and gorgeous with a beautiful texture and mouthfeel. “ With Romanee Conti to its eastern boundary it is similar but slightly different. Les Richebourgs to its northern boundary. La Romanee is a Monopole owned by the Liger-Belair family and is the smallest appellation in France at. 0.8452 hectares producing only 250 to 350 cases each vintage. A wonderful wine with at least 2 decades of cellaring before it reaches its peak.

Wine No. 4 in the Vosne Romanee lineup. My notes - Powerful yet balanced. Toasty Oak notes. A tarriness to the violets and perfume. Brilliant- probably deserves 💯. Romanee Conti?” The unveiling revealed it to be the next door neighbor La Romanee. My highest pointed wine in the group.

No. 3 in the Vosne Romanee lineup. Similar to No. 2 without the spirit. The full package ( with some astringency at the finish). Both round and full yet finishes firm. A long life ahead. La Romanee?”

Gorgeous nose. Consistent theme of violets with all these Vosne Romanee Grand Crus. Opulent- concentrated - superlative. Could enjoy now quite happily but once those layers unravel in the coming years it will become even more amazing. The opulent fruit concealing the tannins at present.
