10 year old Rioja from my SMHS collection. Delicious. I am decanting, but even the first few sips are wonderful. Gracefully aged, this wine has beautiful balance and that ephemeral lightness.

Jammy blueberry overlaid with pungent clove and cinnamon. Woody cedar and eucalyptus on the palate. Decent upon opening but falling apart the following day. Elegance turning ugly.

This wine is either dead or in a dumb phase. Not much in way of fruit, showing mostly sour, tart fruit flavors. Some secondary flavors coming through but overall tastes flat.

Aug 5th, 20132015 is drinking really well. Great plum acid contrast with a lush tobacco leather smell.

Leather, Mushroom and Forrest Floor aromas. Muted flavors of mushrooms, cola, blueberries, mint and dark cherries. Baking Spices and Rose Petals on the finish. Smooth tannins and pretty well integrated

Classy and poised this is showing typically old style Rioja with earth and leather tones. Warm red fruit, lively acidity and fine tannins. A little short finish. Very elegant wine.
