Again, I felt the wine should have been more vibrant and was likely affected by sub-par storage. Assessing as is, I thought the 16' Block B looked even riper than the Marion's Vineyard. Dark fruited, leaning on very ripe plums, almost baked. The aromas are also incredibly savoury, displaying spice, roasted meat and beets. Palate showed a fair amount of toasted oak, spice, and forest floor character. Finish was dominated by marmalade, bitter oils, and earth. Tannins are little more rustic here compared to Marion's Vineyard. A stocky pino if you ask me. Sports a truly high voltage of 15.4, although quite invisible like the other wines in this tasting. I like Kai, but this isn't a wine I would choose to drink again.

Earthy and petal soft young pink cherry. Tarry and asphalty. A well structured Pinot. Bravo.

A real surprise - lovely subtle restrained pinot that doesn't lash you with fruit & alcohol - one of the best NZ pinots I have had

Mixture of red fruits and black cherry. Savory fruits aroma, silky texture, well balanced acidity. 100% destemmed, 45% new oak 18m

Dark cherries, concentrated pu er, stems, dates, airy, hay/weeds. Surprised to witness a NZ wine age so beautifully.

Sassy Pinot with berries and a bouquet with a huge oak presence.

Very nice body, not as jammy as some California Pinot Noir, but still lots of fruit.
