Unfiltered Willamette Valley Pinot Noir

I’ve had a lot of Sass and it always hits the spot. Mossy and earthen yet light and subtle. Tight acids because it’s young but it will learn to relax. Cherry cola after a few swirls.

Sass is always one of my favorites for the price but I hadn't tried this vintage yet. As always, the fruit is ultra bright and expressive. There's no doubt about it, this has that natural wine vibe to it. Slight VA makes the aroma explode out of the glass... raspberry, blackberry and sour cherry. It's very lifted and lively. Slightly hot and the fruit is maybe a touch astringent. Structurally, this wine lacks delineation but it's delicious anyways. It's a different take and a more honest wine than most in the price bracket. Last time I talked to Jerry Sass he told me he was using less and less so2. Very cool.

A simple little touch of VA gives this wine a wild, fun vibe. More beaujolais like than other Oregon styles out there.

This 09 was an awesome find! Cherry and damp soil aromas, pallet was refreshing up front and finished with wet ash earth.

Cherry luden's cough drops...in a good way

Ripe red cherry with some earthy notes. Nice sweet spices and good balance on finish.

Tremendous value for people that want an elegant Pinot Noir. The aroma is intense with bramble fruit and cranberries; with air, more tobacco and forest emerged. High acidity with a clean, light body and high-tone finish. The wine is unfiltered which I think is extremely nessessary to retain complexity in Pinot.

Subtle spice and herbs on the nose. Raspberry and other red fruits mingle on the palate. Great acid. I recommend decanting as it gained complexity with air.

Amazing value at $20. Bright, pretty cherry fruit. Tart balance.
