Mas de Guiot
Grenache/Syrah Vin de Pays du Gard
12.5 alc. 60% Grenache - 40% Syrah. Having enjoyed this "meant-for-early-consumption" Red since 2001, at age 17 this is still holding onto life remarkably well.
However it is time to drink up as this was probably showing more impressive a few years ago.
That being said I'm personally a bit of a necrophiliac so I still get a kick out of this today... (4/2015).

Eeh, not bad not great. Medium build body with dark notes to it. Probably purchase it again. The region produces great wines. Nice price for the quality $12 find.

Jun 29th, 2023Came along nicely over these years! Good sense of mature dark fruits and earthy notes that went well with somewhat spicy pork with paprika from Instapot.

May 27th, 2020Well still alive and kicking with secondary forest and leaves coming into what is left of black fruit notes. It was under ten bucks back then. Value!

Jul 27th, 2019Very nice and a good value relative to the price. I've really started to like the Rhone varietals because if the balance of earth and fruit. Great with steak.
