Given as a dinner party gift. Mocha coffee galore on the nose with brambly dark fruits. Oak, but well integrated. Very soft on palate and decent length. Pretty good, if a tad too 'nicey' for my taste.

Intense blackberry and plum flavors, hint of smoke. Jammy and fruit forward but not rediculously so. Very good Aussie shiraz considering the price.

Initial thoughts: I’m not that into this Shiraz. But let’s see how it goes after it’s open for a while.

Surprisingly this was the first wine I've tasted from the McLaren Vale. The winery, Kangarilla Road, is relatively young having been founded by the O'Brien family in 1997.

As expected with a South Australian Shiraz, this bottle filled the nose with dried fruid, blackberry and the subtle note of leather. On the mouth, the tannins were high, sweetness medium and acidity low. This all combined to provide a much more candied flavour than that picked up on the nose, with the blackberry scent transforming into blackberry jam and the leather fragrance appearing as sweet tobacco in the mouth.
