First of the blind Chardonnays for this quarter's S&E Wine Club. Theme was Chardonnays for white wine and red wines you can purchase at grocery stores.

Clear pale yellow. The nose was quite stinky and off to start with notes of smoke and melting wax. Wore off with around an hour of air with tons of oak influence like creme brulee and a touch of citrus, and stone fruit undertones. Moderate acidity (5/10) and medium plus body. Nice fruit in the attack but the back of the palate tastes a bit stale and with a short to medium finish. Might just need some time to mellow out so drink till 2019 or wait a year to try it again to see if it is in an off period right now.

Only 22 barrels produced.

Nice golden hue. Pinapple lemon to the nose. Pinapple lemon butter to the front palate oak to the mid and creamy butter to the back. Med acids and long finish. Would have rated higher had the oak not disrupted the balance.

This was very elegant and exotic at the same time. The texture is amazing, and the aroma reminds me of banana cream pie. If this is what higher end WA state chard tastes like, count me in!
