The Falstaff Napa Valley Cabernet Franc-Cabernet Sauvignon Blend

I know this is a 2011 but omg this cab franc dominant blend is special

I think my mother mix cab franc with my milk when I was sucking on a bottle - no other explanation for my attraction 😂

I’m not a big Cab Franc fan but Falstaff could change my opinion

Rich dense and still very young. Just a whiff of tertiary notes. Alcohol is a bit high though.

Split decision on this; some of us loved it but some were disappointed

Drinking so well and was improving the longer it was open. So fragrant and aromatic...crushed potpourri, cherry pipe tobacco and baked blackberry pie. Dusty on the palate and still youthful. Dark cocoa dusted dates, roasted plum, blackberry and raspberry pie with strong acidity and tannin. A great drinking window. Thanks @Keith Fisher

Awesome separation from the cabs. The is pretty, lean, and lengthy. Cab Franc is AWESOME!

Great cab franc

07' - at Portola Valley, CA

Gobs of blue fruit on the nose, leather, and smoke. The palate brings a decent dose of tongue-drying tannins at this stage. Blue fruit has a strong presence on the palate and for being Cab Franc dominate, the wine lacks any olive/pepper/savory profile. Medium bodied. I think with a few years nap, this wine will shine. But I still prefer the Bard over this and the Tempest.
